	Parchment originated in South America, the nuns of the Catholic Orders would make exquisite prayer book markers and other things using this From of "Paper Lace". Intricate designs were evident in the form of Prayer Book Markers etc. In the beginning Paper lace or Parchment Crafting was all white embossing and Paper Pricking as you will see from the two Prayer book markers below. Over the years the craft spread to the European Countries and in time another from of Lace was introduced, that of cutting crosses to resemble proper lace. Cutwork also became very popular and in time Color was also introduced to designs on Parchment. Today the craft is know world wide.
